RECENTLY RELEASED
Asleep at the Wheel, “Lone Star Christmas Night” (Home). They’ve done this before — notably, 1997’s “Merry Texas Christmas, Y’all” and 2007’s “Santa Loves to Boogie” — but given that Ray Benson’s western swing juggernaut also has released three Bob Wills tributes, it’s no surprise they’d revisit the holiday theme again. The title track of that first yuletide affair kicks things off here, followed by tales of Christmases spent in jail, in Cowtown and in Texas (not necessarily in that order). Fiddler Katie Shore offers a great vocal counterpoint to Benson on “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” and there’s also a twangy twinge of Latin jazz courtesy of “Feliz Navidad.”
